Highlights The MCD-1M is an integrated Motion Control unit, designed as a simple local unit for a distributed motion control system. The MCD-1M supports RS232 and CAN communication links (simultaneously) to enable fast and remote networking (CAN) together with a setup, debug and monitor channel (RS232). The CAN communication protocol is compatible with the SC-2M CAN protocol, thus enabling a complex CAN network with all types of C&RS products. Moreover, an additional RS485 channel is available upon request. The MCD-1M motion profiler supports on-the-fly changes of most of its motion parameters, including the target position. It will also generate a motion within 0.25ms from receiving the begin motion command. The MCD-1M, as well as all other C&RS digital products, is provided with a unique Windows Shell program. The Shell program provides all the means required for easy starting-up. The MCD firmware can be modified by C&RS upon a customer’s request, to adapt dedicated application needs, such as I/Os interface protocol with a PLC unit. The MCD-1M is designed for remote operation and currently does not support macro programming. In order to provide a complete stand-alone solution, C&RS developed the SC-IO product, that can remotely control a group of MCD-1M (or other) units. The SC-IO supports large and fast macro execution and is equipped with 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs (all isolated and driven) to complete the machine control requirements.
