Laser Pipeline Inspection Tool

This robotic inspection system was custom developed as a highly precise and flexible pipeline integrity scanner. The fully automatic LPIT uses ten computer controlled brushless servo motors which enable the crawler to position itself anywhere on the pipe to perform complete 360 degree scans.

Features

• Unique Linkage System: The LPIT's magnetic drive wheels can be set to remain perpendicular to the pipe while maintaining a set distance from the pipe to the scanner body.
  
  
• Optimized Magnetic Wheels: Rare earth magnets and focusing plates are used to allow the LPIT to drive in any position around a pipe.
  
  
• Integrated Drive System: Four wheel independent steering and drive motors provide flexibility to drive circumferentially or longitudinally. 10 brushless DC Servo Motors, with onboard drivers provide optimum control while reducing umbilical size, complexity and electrical interference.
  
  
• Control System: A color touchscreen provides the user with a completely menu driven, intuitive, operator interface. Onboard crawler intelligence provides increased functionality and expandability. All components are industrially hardened for the best vibration, shock and temperature characteristics.
  
  
•  Rugged Design: The LPIT internal components are all shielded by rugged billet machined enclosures. All motors, gearheads, and electronics are protected by these covers.
